Mapping activity
The website I chose was the feline reaction to bearded men. When I accessed this site it didn't seem very well planned out, and they didn't have very many sources of information. Overall, I didn't find the site to be very credible, especially since it was on what I call a 'humor site'. I’m not very shocked to see that the website wasn’t very
credible. However, I am a little surprised that all of the search engines used the same technology;
it really came down to personal preference. Once starting college and listening
to my professors I started using more credible search techniques. I use the
school’s library catalog quite often to find articles and when searching google
or yahoo I am always sure to check the credibility of the site I have accessed.
This isn’t just for school purposes, but it is also to help protect my computer
and teach myself good methods of finding information. When I start teaching and
I instruct my students to use the internet I will make sure to check all of
their references as well as express to them the difference in the typical
website created by anybody and using the websites that hold credibility. As for
teachers, if I see something doesn’t look quite right or I am addressed with a
question by either the teacher or a student, I will do my best to answer any
questions presented and steer them in the right direction.
